EDGE -Financial Aid Module Release in April 2008
Financial Aid Services, Inc. and Genesis School Management Software, LLC., have been testing the Financial Aid Module within the new powerful EDGE software and are slated to release it to client schools in April of 2008- AT NO CHARGE!. The first release will contain functionality that FAS Clients currently use on a daily basis. However, the application will have a different feel since it is completely web-based. Therefore, to obtain the new application, clients will log into a website. FAS plans hold a number of Webinars to closely assist its clients in using EDGE. As the year progresses, schools will notice new functionality when logging in as FAS and Genesis release further updates. Toward the end of the year clients will then have the option to purchase new functionality and features they did not have with FASLINE. These features will include a student access area that will be part of the school's website.

Letter from the President of FAS Mailed
Each year the President of Financial Aid Services, Al Gillis, mails a letter to all clients informing them of the past year's progress and the coming year's goals. This year's letter was mailed the first week in January and contains exciting news. Please call FAS for additional copies.
Monthly Webinars on Financial Aid to begin in February
The wave of the future has hit Financial Aid Services as Webinars become part of training and updating schools. What is a webinar? Short for Web-based seminar, a webinar is a presentation, lecture, workshop or seminar that is transmitted over the Web. A key feature of a Webinar is its interactive elements -- the ability to give, receive and discuss information. Contrast with Webcast, in which the data transmission is one way and does not allow interaction between the presenter and the audience. These online seminars use Webex to make them actual, live interactive learning experiences. Participants will be able to ask the instructor questions and get answers in real time. The instructor will be able to conduct polls and ask questions. Participants will receive course materials by e-mail prior to the seminar and will be able to view the instructor's PowerPoint slides during the seminar. These types of online courses have a much higher impact than simply reading material on the web. Webinars offer exceptional convenience and are very cost-effective. They are ideal for brown-bag lunch training. No travel is required. FAS will be presenting many of its procedure training topics as well as those areas of financial aid schools ask many questions on. Look for FAS' Webinar Schedule on its training portion of its website.
